The University at Buffalo will host a three day conference March 7th through 9th at the University at Buffalo's Amherst campus. We will have seven talks on recent results in knot theory, hyperbolic geometry and geometric group theory. The first talk will be Friday afternoon, and the conference will end before noon on Sunday.
The dates of the conference have been chosen to be close to those of the 2008 Myhill lectures, to be given by Benson Farb of the University of Chicago on March 5th, 6th, and 7th. Attendees of the conference are encouraged to attend these lectures, and vice versa. More information about the Myhill lectures can be found here .
More information will appear on this page (http://math.buffalo.edu/~j399m/miniconf/) as it becomes available.
Speakers:
NEW: A tentative schedule is here, and abstracts may be found here.
Organizers: Jason Manning, Joe Masters, Bill Menasco, Adam Sikora, Xingru Zhang.
We are grateful to the UB College of Arts and Sciences and Department of Mathematics for funding this conference.
Invited speakers will mostly be staying at the Hotel Indigo. If you are an invited speaker, you don't need to make a reservation. A reservation will be made for you after you inform the organizers of the dates of your attendance.
We regret that we will not be able to fund any other than the invited speakers.
There is no registration required, but if you are planning to come, it would help us out if you could send an email to Jason Manning at j399m@buffalo.edu to let us know.
