Course description   The course will build on the material covered by MTH 619 in the fall semester. The topics I plan to discuss include: algebraic extensions and the Galois theory, algebraic spaces, noetherian rings, modules over rings, elements of homological algebra. Some further notions of category theory should also naturally appear.
Textbook

Serge Lang, Algebra
Revised Third Edition

The scope of the course should roughly correspond to chapters III, V, VI, IX, X, XVI, XX (skipping some topics, expanding on some others and possibly rearranging the order in which they are presented).

Homework problems will be posted on Thursday every other week.

There will be no exams for this course. The final grade will be based entirely on the homework scores.
