• Tests: There will be 4 in-class 50 minute tests during the semester. ID's will be checked at each exam. The following schedule is tentative only:
  • Test 1: Feb 12 Sec 1.1-1.9
  • Test 2: March 4 Sec 2.1-2.3, 2.8-2.9, 3.1-3.3, 4.1-4.2
  • Test 3: April 3 Sec 4.3-4.7, 5.1-5.3
  • Test 4: Apr 24 Sec 5.4-5.5,6.1-6.5.
• There will be no final exam.
• Quizzes will be given every week in recitation session, except for the test weeks. Additionally, there may be given some very short in class quizzes as well.
• Homework problems will be posted below. Only the problems numbered in bold are collected. The collection day is Thursday the following week. To receive credit, homework sets must be handed in on time at the beginning of the class period. If you have a legitimate excuse you must tell me ahead of time. The lowest two homework grades will be dropped. The tests and quizzes are based on all homework problems.
• Final grade will be based on in-class quizzes and HW, 20%, and the best of
  • the best three tests, 20% each, and recitation quizzes, 20%, or
  • four tests, 20% each.
• 90% of the total score (calculated as above) guarantees A if you receive at least 75% on last test
• 88% guarantees A- if you receive at least 60% on last test
• 85% guarantees B+, 82% B, 79% B-, 76% C+, 72% C, 68% C-, 64% D+, 60% guarantees D.

Example: If you have 90% of total points in class but you receive only 55% on last test then your grade will be B+. Some modifications of the above rules are possible.
