- Tests: There
will be 3 in-class tests during the semester. ID's will
be checked at each exam. Approximate dates: Feb 11, Mar 25, Apr 22.
- There will be no final exam.
- Quizzes
will be given every week in recitation session, except for the test
weeks. Additionally, there may be given some very short in class quizzes
as well. The tests and quizzes are based on online homework.
- Final grade
will be based on the best 4 of the following 5 components:
- HW and in-class quizzes
- three tests
- recitation quizzes
- 90% guarantees A if you receive at least 75% on last test
- 88% guarantees A- if you receive at least 60% on last test
- 85% guarantees B+, 82% B, 79% B-, 76%, C+, 72% C, 68% C-, 64% D+, 60% guarantees D.
Example: If you got 90 in the first two tests, 90% in quizzes and 90% in HW's, but you received only 70% on last test
then your grade will be A-. Some modifications of the above rules are
possible.
This course is designated a “limited enrollment course.” Repeat enrollment in this course will generally be allowed only during the summer. Repeat enrollment is defined as a the enrollment of a student who previously received, either fro
m UB or in an equivalent transfer course, a letter grade of A, B, C, D, F and qualified values thereof (e.g. A-, B+); or a grade of P, S, U, I, J, N or R. Students who took an administrative withdrawal for an entire previous semester, and received a grade
of ‘W’, are not considered repeaters. See also here
