Donald Edwards

born: 1905; died 1999

Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh

area: X-ray diffraction crystallography

He was the founding chair of the Physics Department at North Carolina A&T College (now University).

Dr. Edwards served as Professor and Chair of the Department of Physics at Lincoln University, and was the founding Chair of the Department of Physics at North Carolina A&T State University. One of his students wax Ronald McNair the Astronaut/Physicist. Dr. Edwards passed away in 1999. Dr. Sekazi Mtingwa has written an obituary for Dr. Edwards, in which his career achievements are highlighted. The article is published in Physics Today (Physics Today, August 2000, Vol. 53 #8, pp 64-66).
