Joseph Battle

 

Born: February 22, 1930

place: Rocky Mount, North Carolina

B.S. in Mathematics and Physics from North Carolina Central University in 1953, and a M.S. in Mathematics from the University of Michigan in 1955.

Ph.D. University of Michigan 1962
thesis: Imbedding of Graphs in Orientable 2-Manifolds; Advisor: Frank Harary

From 1955 to 1958, Joseph Battle taught in North Carolina public schools, and at Morgan State. Returning to Michigan University, he earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics.

Dr. Joseph Battle has held a variety of positions including Senior analyst in operations research at the Research Triangle Institute in Durham N.C. (1962-64), Chairman of the Department of Mathematics at the University of Lagos (Nigeria, 1964-68), and Professor in the Graduate School of Business Administration at Duke University (1970-?).
