Monroe Community College, located in Rochester, New York invites applications for Mathematics, Faculty Member Tenure-Track, Fall '09 position. We seek individuals who are versatile in their teaching and/or their professions, proficient with technology, open to change, passionate about learning, self-improvement, and committed to serving in various capabilities to realize the College's mission of student success. Duties include: teach mathematics courses from basic algebra through calculus, differential equations and linear algebra, including statistics and mathematics for non-science majors. THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT CHAPEL HILL Lecturer in Mathematics and Mathematics Education at UNC-CH The Department of Mathematics at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks applicants for a position in Mathematics and Mathematics Education to be effective on or after July 1, 2009. The duties of the position will include designing and teaching a course on mathematics pedagogy to train mathematics majors for secondary school teaching, a practicum course on mathematics pedagogy, participation in the joint teacher training program between the UNC School of Education and the UNC Department of Mathematics, and possibly assisting in the training of graduate teaching assistants in mathematics and teaching in the Mathematics Department. Preferred qualifications include a Ph.D. in Mathematics, or M.S. in Mathematics with a Ph.D. in Education, and with extensive experience in mathematics education and knowledge of mathematics education research. Secondary school mathematics teaching experience and familiarity with current approaches to secondary school mathematics teaching theory, curriculum planning and implementation, and assessment are highly desirable. Candidates who have met the requirements for North Carolina mathematics teaching licensure are preferred. The position shall be for an initial fixed-term period of three years with potential for renewal (subject to the availability of funds). Analysis/Applied Math or Combinatories Western Michigan University (WMU) is a student-centered research university located in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching has placed WMU among the 76 public institutions in the nation designated as research universities with high research activity. The Department of Mathematics invites applications for one or more tenure-track positions, depending upon available funds, in the areas of either analysis/applied math or combinatorics starting August 2009. We are interested in individuals whose research interests will complement or enhance the existing strengths in the Analysis/Applied Math or Combinatorics group of the Department; these include control theory, ordinary or partial differential equations, financial mathematics, matrix analysis/operator theory, neurocortex modeling, numerical analysis and numerical linear algebra, optimization and nonsmooth analysis, combinatorics, graph theory, and topological graph theory. A successful candidate will be expected to continue a program of research and scholarship leading to publication, supervision of doctoral dissertations, and seeking external funding in addition to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, and carrying out course and curriculum development; participating in department, college and university committees, councils, and activities. Nazareth College in Rochester, NY invites applications for a tenure-track position in mathematics effective Fall 2009. Doctorate in mathematics education or mathematics required.
