Mathematics Today in Mali

under construction

Indigenous mathematics research activities in Mali? The great library in Timbuktu perhaps tells the story. I have been told that currently there is an organized study of materials of the thousand year old library.

Most important is the annual (since 2000) Mali Symposium on Mathematics and the Applied Sciences: http://www.msas.maliwatch.org/

The only black mathematicians connected with Mali we know of today are:

  1. Daouda Sangare
  2. Barama Toni*
