Mathematics 141 is taught in many lecture sections of up to 60 students, meeting two or more times a week, and almost invariably is taught by a fulltime faculty member. Each student enrolled in a lecture section is also enrolled in a recitation (problem solving session), which meets once per week and is usually taught by a graduate student.
You should pay particular attention to your section and recitation letters (e.g. 141C lecture and 141C2 recitation) and be sure that you are attending those for which you are registered. The lecturer will give you a printed handout with useful information at the beginning of the course, including his/her name and office hours. The recitation instructor will also give you his/her name and office hours at the first meeting of your recitation.
You can find the schedule of all 141 lectures and recitations on
UB Wings. You can find lecture and recitation instructors listed in the directory on
UB Wings or at the
Math Department home page.
Each lecture section is independent. No quizzes, homework, or examinations are given in common. You will receive a grade from your lecturer, which will incorporate an evaluation of your work in recitation, as the lecturer sees fit. There is no common grading scale or "curve" among various other sections.
This course is offered by the Department of Mathematics, for which further information may be obtained at http://www.math.buffalo.edu.
