- Textbook
Functional Analsysis, Spectral
Theory, and Applications by
M.Einsiedler and T.Ward, GTM 276.
- Course Description
- This is the first semester of a one-year course. Functional
analysis studies normded linear spaces and more generally
locally convex topological vector spaces. It has applications in
various fields of mathematics. We shall discuss Hilbert spaces,
Banach spaces, their duals, and linear operators on them.
- Homework and Exams
- No exams. There will be two or three homework sets. The
grades are based on the homework.
- Prerequisite
- MTH 534 and MTH 625 or equivalent.
