1. The textbook for the course is: Applied partial differential equations: with Fourier series and boundary value problems,
by Richard Haberman, Pearson Prentice Hall, Fourth Edition or Fifth Edition.

2. The first lecture will be on Tuesday, January 15 in Math 150 between 2:00PM-3:20PM.
Recitations will begin in the second week of the Semester.

3. Final exam announcement
(a) The final exam will be held on Friday, May 3 between 3:30PM-6:30PM in Math 150.
(b) No calculators, books or class notes will be allowed.
(c) Please bring two letter-size papers (8.5"x11"), which you prepare, with formulas,
definitions and other info you find appropriate. These papers can be hand-written
(no need to type using a computer). You can use both the front and the back side
of the two papers.
(d) Material for the exam
Chapter 1, all sections.
Chapter 2, all sections.
Chapter 3, sections 3.1-3.5.
Chapter 4, sections 4.1-4.4.
Chapter 5, sections 5.1-5.4.
Chapter 7, sections 7.1-7.3.

4. Structure of the final exam
(a) There are three questions.
MTH418 students should answer two out of the three questions.
If you answer three questions you should clearly mark the two that you want me to grade.
MTH518 students should answer all three questions.
(b) There is one question on material of chapter 7, one question on material of chapter 4,
and one question on material of chapter 2.
