Announcements


1. The textbook for the course is: Differential Equations and Boundary Value Problems: Computing and Modeling,
by C. Henry Edwards and David E. Penney, second custom edition for the University at Buffalo.

2. The first lecture will be on Monday, January 27 at NSC 205 between 1:00PM-1:50PM.
Recitations will begin in the second week of the semester.

3. The midterm exam is on Monday, March 24 between 1:00PM-1:50PM in NSC 205.
(a) Material for the exam:
Chapter 1, all sections.
Chapter 2, sections 2.1-2.4.
Chapter 3, section 3.1.
(b) Note that the material covered by homework assignment 7 is part of the material
for the midterm exam. 
(c) No calculators, books or class notes will be allowed.
(d) Please bring one letter-size paper (8.5"x11"), which you prepare, with formulas,
definitions and other info you find appropriate. This can be hand-written
(no need to type it using a computer). You can use both the front and the back side of the paper.

4. Format of the midterm exam.
The midterm exam contains two questions, each consisting of several parts.
You have to answer both questions.
The questions cover material from chapters 1, 2, and 3.

5. Final exam announcement
(a) The final exam will be held on Friday, May 16 between 11:45AM-2:45PM in NSC 205.
(b) No calculators, books or class notes will be allowed.
(c) Please bring two letter-size papers (8.5"x11"), which you prepare, with formulas,
definitions and other info you find appropriate. These papers can be hand-written
(no need to type using a computer). You can use both the front and the back side
of the two papers.
(d) Please bring a photo ID.
(e) Material for the exam.
Chapter 1, all sections.
Chapter 2, sections 2.1-2.4.
Chapter 3, sections 3.1-3.6.
Chapter 4, section 4.1.
Chapter 5, sections 5.1, 5.2 and 5.4.
(f) Structure of the exam.
There is one question on material of chapters 1 and 2, one question on material
of chapter 3, and one question on material of chapter 5. Each question consists
of several parts. You have to answer all three questions.
